KALI LINUX SEEMS TO BEAT BACKTRACK LINUX!
Hello buddies! Today I am sharing some review on the latest pen-testing tool Kali Linux which is funded and developed by Offensive Security. It seems to have a great success. They have made this a complete new brand because they have many bug issues with BackTrack and to sort them all they had to re-write the whole software.
Here is some more information about Kali Linux.
Kali is a complete re-build of BackTrack Linux. It has more than 300 penetration testing tools equipped in it. It is free to download and a opensource tool. It has a vast wireless device support allowing it to run properly on a wide variety of hardware and making it compatible with numerous USB.
The Kali Team has chosen Debian platform rather than Ubuntu as it was earlier with BackTrack! Kali Linux is smaller in size compared to BackTrack. The size of BackTrack iso was 3GB whereas the size of Kali Linux iso is just 2GB in size. The Firefox browser has been replaced with Iceweasal. The design is completely customizable!
Another interesting feature about Kali Linux is that it supports ARM architecture, it means that you can use the distro on Raspberry Pi’s and Chromebooks etc. Incidentally, you can also create your own .iso file with Kali through the Debian lifebuild feature.
Kali Linux in the i386, amd64, VMWare and ARM images comes with a default authentication, the username is root and the password is toor.
The first release was on 13th March 2013 and it had gone through a series of bug fixes proving the last update on 26th April 2013. The last update have added a new “accessibility” boot option that triggers the speech engine during the installation process.
Kali Linux can contain single user with root privileges. The network services are disabled by default and even the bluetooth is blacklist by default!
Kali Linux is a step ahead from BackTrack Linux!
